Things that washed up on the beach

Seagrasses and other marine plants washed up constantly. Every morning there would be people with rakes, pitchforks and wheelbarrows manually combing the shoreline. Each segment of the beach probably yielded four or five overflowing wheelbarrow loads. A few unkempt segments were entirely covered in the stuff, along with a lot of trash, but most places were kept clean.

These little mollusks could be found clinging to just about any hard surface that washed up.
