Restaurants & food

It wasn't easy to find good vegetarian meals at local restaurants. This place, Rico's, had almost nothing veg on their lunch menu, but for breakfast they had an amazing breakfast burrito--scrambled eggs and veggies with cheddar cheese in tortillas, served with sides of refried black beans, some kind of vegetable soup and cantaloupe. The service was good too, unlike every other place I went. I think it's kind of a fancy restaurant, but the prices (at least for what I ordered) aren't unreasonable--$13.00BZ ($6.50US) for the breakfast burritos. I didn't discover Rico's until just a few days before I left, but after having so many gross restaurant experiences I decided not to mess with success, and I went back three days in a row.

It's located on the beach (with part of the deck hanging out over the water) at the base of a pier that also had a giftshop/diveshop where I bought a few souvenirs, postcards, and some jewelry.

^I had the vegetarian plate at Ali Baba's, which was decent. Their falafel is actually delicious. And it's located right at the south entrance to town, on a very busy corner, so it's loud, but good for people-watching.

^GLACS...they're GLLLLLATE! Not really. The cereal selection at grocery stores was largely off-brand and gross. I ended up buying a lot of canned veggies and vegetarian chili, and not much else.

This is one of the fruit stands I went to. Like the grocery stores, these stands had almost no vegetables. I found some lettuce once, and some big carrots that had a cloud of insects around them. Another stand had something that looked like light green, lumpy mini-pumpkins that were supposedly cucumbers.
Here's the same stand in the evening:

There were ice cream shops all over the place. I had a scoop of mint chocolate chip from Manelly's.

I didn't go to either of these restaurants, but they looked interesting.
